ARTIST STATEMENT

There is an appreciation of the marsupial species that’s associated with our mexican culture here in the lower Rio Grande Valley. These works are primarily 2D woodcut or linoleum prints but also other types of art medium, ceramic, and digital. The art work displayed is to show possums in a lighter tone than usually depicted by society. My goal is for these viewpoints to connect and leave a lasting impression on the gaze of the viewer. With the art described, there is always something that qualifies for a much longer analysis of detail to appreciate the entirety of the art.
